"Puerto Rican conga player Yahuba Garcia has been pounding the road with The Ryan Montbleau Band for the Past 5 years. He has recorded in over 50 studio albums as well as performed with countless artists such as Martin Sexton, Percy Hill, Assembly Of Dust, Ron Levy, Boston Horns & Jen Kearney and many others! "Yahuba" means music or a 'grito fuerte y sonoro' (strong musical scream). His instruments include congas, timbales, bongo, assorted percussion, and vocals.

Johnny Durkin has been studying Afro Cuban rhythms since High School. First on congas, then on timbales, bongo, bata and etc., finally back to drumset. He's usually seen with the likes of Deep Banana Blackout, Vinyl, GFE, and now I Anbassa. He's got some recordings out with the above as well as John Scofield, BOAC, Mike Stern, Cosmic Jibaros and more. Durkin met percussionist Johnny Almendra (Mongo Santamaria/Candido) while on the Scofield recording which really made him focus more on traditional and classic rhythms again. While studying with Almendra, Durkin says, "I remember him saying he taught these rhythms because he believed if he(and others) didn't they would eventually die. So I try and pass on what I was taught with that in mind."

Together Johnny and Yahuba will be holding a percussion clinic right in the lobby on Sunday following the Ryan Montbleau solo set where they will demonstrate the use of some of the traditional rhythms played on congas, timbales, bongos and other percussion instruments and then show how they apply those traditional rhythms into the funky/rock platforms that they play in…you might see them doing a cha-cha, a mambo, and definitely some FUNK!"

World-renowned ZILDJIAN CYMBALS, with the help from Johnny Durkin, will be awarding out a set of cymbals to the most deserving drummers over the weekend. Drummers and percussionists, musicians and guests alike will be up for winning the awards.  Everyone's a winner at Rock n Roll Resort!

Vinyasa Sanskrit: विन्यास, vinyāsa (pron. vi-nyaah-sa) is a Sanskrit term often employed in relation to certain styles of yoga. The term vinyasa may be broken down into its Sanskritic roots to assist in decoding its meaning. Nyasa denotes "to place" and vi denotes "in a special way." Like many Sanskrit words, vinyasa is a term that has many meanings.

It denotes a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath or pranayama in which yoga and mudra transitions are embodied as linkages within and between asana. Indeed, this process entrains the mindstream with the bodymind of the aspirant, and fuels the samādhi of Mystery in the adept; in affirmation that no value judgment between the importance or ascendancy of the asana or the transitions between asana is held. This view of non-judgement is grounded, founded and based in the Shunyata Doctrine which informed the development of vinyasa styles. Vinyasa is also employed as a noun to describe the sequence of poses that are performed between Adho Mukha Svanasana or Downward Facing Dog as part of a Surya Namaskara or Sun Salutation sequence. Though this is more correctly termed half-vinyasa as full-vinyasa returns to complete standing asana or positions.
